    Hello Everyone,

So one of the most important things to do when conquering the CCIE is to have a plan. Below is my and how I came about it. Thought this would be useful to some people out there. Share your plans below

    Study Material

    Books:

    •Routing TCP/IP Vol. 1 and 2
    •CCIE R&S 4th Ed.
    •MPLS Fundamentals
    •End-to-End QoS Network Design
    •Cisco Docs

    Equipment:
    •INE’s Lab Topology◦4 x 3560’s with 15.0SE IP Services Image (32MB RAM Req.) – $600
    ◦1 x HP DL360 G6 VM Server (48GB RAM, Intel Quad L5520) – $800◾Running 20+ CSR1000V’s
    ◾Windows 7 Hosts◾1 being Wireshark Host/TFTP Server

◾Potentially some DHCP, DNS, and AAA/Radius/ACS Servers

    ◦1 x Digi CM32 Access Server – $100

    •GNS3◦7200 w/ 15.2(4)S2 Adv Ent. K9 IOS

•Potentially INE’s Rack Rentals if needed

    Training:
    •INE’s ATC & Workbook Bundle ◦plus 300 rack tokens
    ◦link here: http://www.ine.com/ccie-success.htm

•Potentially Cisco 360 if I feel necessary in the future

    Schedule

The numbers below are based off of speaking to other CCIE’s and reading their experiences online. These numbers are not set in stone, but are simply there to keep me on track and have a goal in mind. Calculations have been simplified and assuming I’m starting from scratch. First, I decided how many hours a week minimum to dedicate to study. The dates and hours are below:

    MWF – 6 hours ea

    Sat/Sun – 4 hours ea

About 25 hours a week to simplify calculations

Avg Hours to Pass Written Exam: 400 hrs. (Doesn’t really matter when I take and pass this exam)

Avg Hours to Pass Lab Exam: 1,200 hrs.

Weeks until Written Exam: 400hrs/25hrs per week = 16 weeks

Weeks until Lab Exam: 1200hrs/25hrs per week = 48 weeks

So based off of that I have my ball park dates for each exam. As long as I stick to my predefined schedule I will meet the requirement for myself to at the very least attempt these exams.

    Method

This method is highly adapted to my learning style, but I thought some may want to know.

•On a weekly and section by section basis◦Before taking the Written◾Read books and documents
    ◾Watch ATC Videos
    ◾Do INE’s Technology (Workbook 1) Labs
◾Do 5 Random WB1 labs done previously using my Random Lab Generator I created on Excel to keep things fresh (DAILY)
◾Complete WB1 before taking the Written

◦After passing the Written◾Move onto the next of INE’s Workbooks (It’s difficult to be more detailed since these workbooks have not been released yet)◾Refer back to ATC videos, WB1, and Books
◾Assuming INE’s WB2v5 is anything like WB2v4, I will do 1 full scale lab per week (this includes referencing back to previous material)
◾After completing WB2, move onto WB3, then WB4 (again, can’t be too specific yet)
◾After completing everything and feeling comfortable with myself, take the Exam◾If I don’t pass the first time just keep going

In regards to not being too specific on when I will finish each of INE’s Workbook. It really depends how they structure it. Like I said, if it is anything like the v4 workbooks then I should be able to follow INE’s recommended guide for passing the V4 Lab closely. The link for that is here: http://blog.ine.com/2010/10/09/how-to-pass-the-ccie-rs-with-ines-4-0-training-program/

Hope you all enjoyed this post and got something out of it! Again, post your ideas and plans below to share with the world. Regards.

What are the differences of exam A, B, C… H on the PL 1131 VCE? They each seem to pull Qs from the entire file randomly with no type of correlation. Very confusing.

I just started to read the cloud topic for the written exam V5.1…….and i don’t really understand why this topic is in the R/S CCIE.
Same comment for iot and sdn, if this continues, in a few month, we will see a topic called ” how to root your smartphone ”

Cisco, stop tu put everything and anything in this CCIE ! it is not a dustbin.
